Panathinaikos OPAP is heading to the next season with Ioannis Papapetrou retaining his status as captain.
Papapetrou, 27, had recently signed a two-year contract extension. It included an NBA-out clause, which expired on Wednesday. He did not receive an NBA offer, despite teams seeming interested to secure his services.
The Greens held their first joint practice on Wednesday with Papapetrou among the players working under head coach Dimitris Priftis.
The Greek forward went for 12.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists over 27 appearances in his eighth season in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, third with his current team.
